Coming into college in the fall of 2005, I did not know Jesus Christ until someone from Cru shared the Gospel with me. From that point on I became involved and grew in my faith through Bible studies, being in community with other believers, and sharing my faith on and off-campus. As I looked back on my time in college, I really wanted to help students grow in their relationships with God who came after me. And that ultimately led me to want to work for Cru after I graduated from college in 2009. During my time working with Cru, I have been continually in awe at the privilege to see the Lord work in the hearts of students right before my eyes. I have come to a deeper understanding of the reality of what God is like, through people who are genuinely following after him and getting a stronger heart to reach out to students who do not know him. In the past, I worked in Baltimore, at Cru’s HQ, in Florida, and worked at the University of California Davis and Sacramento State! After taking a much-needed 4-year break from full-time ministry and moving out of California, I moved back in 2021 and got connected with a ministry of Cru called Destino. Destino has been around for over 20 years, and it “..envisions spiritual movements of Latino students, faculty, and community everywhere, so that everyone on earth knows someone who truly follows Jesus.” Through learning about the ministry from its staff, interacting with its students at different events, and praying over possible next steps in life, I felt led to make a decision to come back to Cru and pursue work with Destino. Cru and its family of ministries like Destino have no central funds for paying salaries and ministry expenses of its staff such as myself. Like many other mission organizations, it depends on the consistent financial support of groups and individuals. For me, I am trusting God to raise up a team of partners who can not just pray for the ministry, but also give monthly on a financial basis or even through a special gift towards the ministry I will be taking part in at Cal State Fullerton and other schools in the South LA area. Thank you again for considering giving to Cru/ Destino! You are enabling more students to discover the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
