Years ago, Anita’s world seemed bleak and small.

Her parents were unable to provide for her and her sister, Rekha, who has special needs. So at an early age, Anita and Rekha began their life at Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission, a ministry that Global Aid Network (GAiN) supports in India and also represents in Canada.

When they first arrived, the girls were scared, despondent and unsure of their future.

But as time went by, the girls grew to trust their caregivers and return the love they experienced in their new home. In addition to nutritious food, education, clothing, medical care and a safe home, the girls were exposed to the gospel message. And at 11, Anita accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour.

Recently, GAiN staff visited Anita, who is now a thriving 17-year-old. She showed them her collection of notebooks filled with newspaper clippings. Each clipping shows Anita’s interest in learning more about the world around her.

“One of my favourite things about Mukti is that I’ve been able to get a good education,” she says. “I’m also grateful to have a secure place to live, that I’m regularly exposed to the Word of God, and am able to grow spiritually. I also love the friends I’ve made and my caring house mothers.”
Anita is currently studying in the 12th Standard, her second year at junior college. She is doing well in school and achieved awards for her high marks. Upon graduation, she hopes to study psychology and work with those who have special needs.

With a heart for those who may normally be shunned by society, God has great things in store for this bright young lady.

Will you help us demonstrate the love of God to more vulnerable children like Anita and Rekha?
